Macro-site selection of wind/solar hybrid power station based on Ideal Matter-Element Model

Independent renewable energy power stations based only on wind or solar power system cannot provide continuous electricity. Wind/solar hybrid power systems can offer a possible solution to this problem. However, there is much more influencing factors in the progress of site selection as the site selection of hybrid power systems is much more complex than of independent ones. To resolve this problem, we use literature statistics to determine the index of site selection scientifically. Therefore, the Matter-Element Extension method and its improved version (Ideal Matter-Element Extension method) are applied to evaluate hybrid renewable sites. We chose three regions with abundant wind and solar energy in China as case studies for these models and obtain the weights of the index by Rank Correlation Analysis. The no difference results of the two models and the installed capacity of these places will prove its effectiveness meanwhile the improved Ideal Matter-Element Model can rank order all evaluation objects. So, this paper will provide a theoretical basis to selection of the sites of wind/solar hybrid power stations.
