RésuméLa prédominance des collyres bêta-bloquants en tant que traitement initial du glaucoma et de l’hypertonie oculaire est maintenant remise en cause depuis l’apparition des collyres d’analogues de prostaglandines. Nous présentons et discutons les données disponibles et les arguments permettant à l’ophtalmologiste le choix le meilleur, adapté individuellement à chaque patient, entre ces deux classes thérapeutiques.

The predominant place of topical beta-blockers as first-line, initial treatment for glaucoma and ocular hypertension is currently challenged with the availability of topical prostaglandin analogues. We present and discuss available data and arguments to permit to the ophthalmologist the better choice, individually tailored to a given patient, between these two therapeutic classes.
