049 Resultats préliminaires avec la LIO Aspheric Multifocale de Rayner M-Flex
چکیده انگلیسی

IntroductionA new IOL is always a challenge; how will it perform? This is even truer with a multifocal IOL for patients who aspire to be spectacle-independent.Main and MethodsWe prospectively assessed our firt 30 implantations of the Rayner M-Flex Aspheric multifocal IOL to assess performance, biometry results and patient satisfaction.ResultsThe refractive results suggest that using the IOLMaster, an a constant of 118.6 gives the best results. This is significantly different to the parent C-Flex IOL for which the IOLMaster a-constant is generally accepted to be 118.9. Whilst patients could see 6/6 (20/20; 1.0; LogMAR0) and J1 for near unaided, those with perfect biometry achieved the best results. It was notable that no patient complained of unwanted visual effects.DiscussionThis IOL has the standard Rayner Platform of Antivaulting Haptics for centrational and rotational stability and Amon-Apple Enhanced Square Edge for minimising posterior capsular opacification. It is an aspheric bifocal with a +3 add at the IOL plane equating to +2.25 at the spectacle plane. It's performance in optical terms has been un-surprising in terms of visual acuity, but we were most surprised at the lack of unwanted visual effects (“Haloes”). This has been corroberated by other independent workers. The cause of this is probably the low refractive index hydrophilic acrylic material in conjunction with the aspheric optics and the slightly low add power.ConclusionThis new foldable injectable aspheric multifocal IOL has unique properties in terms of surprisingly few unwanted visual effects.
