Évaluation de la réponse à la chimiothérapie, aux thérapies ciblées et à l'immunothérapie

Designing tumor response criteria is a critical step for treating cancer patients in daily practice as long as in clinical trials since it provides a homogeneous way to analyze radiological results. The first criteria to be proposed were made for evaluating cytotoxic chemotherapy. They included the WHO criteria, further replaced by RECIST criteria, for which a new version has been released in 2009. However, these criteria have shown some limitations, especially for evaluating treatments with different mechanisms of action such as targeted therapies or immunotherapy. This review will address the WHO and RECIST criteria and then the specificities of evaluating targeted therapies and immunotherapy.
