Imageries médicales radiologiques et nucléaires en oncologie thoracique : perspectives d'avenir

Radiology and nuclear medicine have become essential for thoracic oncology care. Their development is exponential for 25 years. The current technological developments are focused on two realms. First radiation protection, new imaging techniques respect image quality while reducing the radiation dose to patients. Secondly there is an interpenetration of the two specialties basis, radiology accesses functional imaging (e.g. functional magnetic resonance imaging) and nuclear medicine are coupled with other imaging modalities such as Computed Tomography or Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Molecular imaging and anatomical imaging have been merged into hybrid imaging. The introduction of a large number of new tracers in nuclear medicine, especially for PET, is increasing clinical applications and biological imaging performance.
