Towards Establishing Standards of Practice in General Thoracic Surgery: The European Perspective

Quality assurance in general thoracic surgery (GTS) in Europe is strongly influenced by the heterogeneity of national backgrounds. Important initiatives have been taken by the European scientific societies to establish the necessary instruments to perform GTS under established and controlled conditions. Among these instruments are the European Board of GTS, the ECTSIA, the European registry, and the “Structure in GTS” (paper of EACTS/ESTS).
