Effects of d-cycloserine and midazolam on the expression of the GABA-A alpha-2 receptor subunits in brain structures of fear conditioned rats

► d-cycloserine decreased freezing in HR (high anxiety) and LR (low anxiety) rats. ► Midazolam attenuated freezing in HR group only. ► In BLA of HR rats d-cycloserine increased expression of GABA-A (alpha-2) subunits. ► In DG, d-cycloserine increased alpha-2 subunits in LR and HR, and midazolam in HR. ► In M2 midazolam and d-cycloserine increased alpha-2 subunits in LR and HR.
