Midazolam reduces the selective activation of the rhinal cortex by contextual fear stimuli

▶ Conditioned fear to context, light or tone produced similar increases in freezing. ▶ Conditioned fear did not change the Fos expression in the ventral hippocampus. ▶ Contextual fear conditioning produced a selective activation of the rhinal cortex. ▶ Midazolam injected into the rhinal cortex impaired the expression of contextual fear.
