Electrophysiological and behavioral effects of group I metabotropic glutamate receptors on pallidal neurons in rats

► Group I mGluRs could produce excitatory effect on pallidal neurons. ► DHPG-induced excitation was mediated by mGluR1 but not mGluR5. ► Blockade of mGluR5 also increased the excitability of pallidal neurons.
