Comparative study on song behavior, and ultra-structural, electrophysiological and immunoreactive properties in RA among deafened, untutored and normal-hearing Bengalese finches

► Bengalese finches deafened before song learning could not sing. ► Bengalese finches deprived of tutor songs produced seriously degenerated songs. ► Sizes of song nuclei remained unchanged, but ultra-structures changed significantly in deafened or isolated finches. ► Spontaneous activity decreased dramatically in abnormally hearing Bengalese finches. ► Some immunoreactive properties changed in deafened or isolated Bengalese finches.
