Induction of heat shock proteins in the adult rat cerebral cortex following pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus

►After SE, Hsps25 and Hsp32 were induced in rat astrocytes and Hsp70 in neurons.► Hsp70 showed a prominent signal along neuron apical dendrites at 1 day post-SE.► Hsp32 and Hsp70 expression was transient while Hsp25 remained at 7 days. ► Hsp25 may play a role in remodeling events occurring in the days following SE.
