The identification of novel protein, brain-derived integrating factor-1 (BDIF1), which interacts with astrocytic gap junctional protein

► A novel protein, brain-derived integrating factor-1 (BDIF1) was identified. ► BDIF1 was intensely expressed by astrocytes and comprises TBC, SH3 and RUN domains. ► BDIF1 bound to connexin-43, but not to connexins found in neurons and other glia. ► BDIF1 co-localized with connexin-43 in astrocytes.
