Effects of anthropogenic shoreline hardening and invasion by Phragmites australis on habitat quality for juvenile blue crabs (Callinectes sapidus)

► We examined the effects of shoreline on nursery habitat for blue crab. ► Shoreline types included bulkheads, rip-rap, Spartina marsh, and Phragmites marsh. ► Growth and feeding did not differ among shoreline types. ► Predation was substantially higher near bulkheads. ► Spartina and Phragmites marshes did not differ in nursery habitat quality.
