Difference in optimum temperature for growth and reproduction in benthic foraminifer Rosalina globularis: Implications for paleoclimatic studies

► The effect of temperature on growth and reproduction in benthic foraminifera has been evaluated. ► We find that seawater temperature strongly affects growth and reproduction in benthic foraminifera. ► The optimum temperature for growth and reproduction is different. ► Though the growth is not linearly related with temperature, warm conditions led to a bigger size. ► Specimens subjected to extremely cold or warm conditions reproduced abnormally.
