In order to understand the function of TuR2, a candidate disease-resistance gene was isolated from cabbage, we transformed it into mustard (Brassica juncea L. Linshicaoyaozi) which was susceptible to TuMV through Agrobacterium iumefacine-mediated method. Transgenic plants were detected by Southern blotting and Northern blotting. Our results confirmed that the TuR2 gene had been integrated into the mustard genome, and it showed different expression levels among primary transplants (T0). The primary transplants (T0) and the first progenies of transgenic plants (T1) were inoculated with TuMV in a greenhouse. The transgenic plants had high TuMV-resistance, whereas the serious virus disease symptom was observed in CK (no transformation plants). The TuR2 gene in the first progenies of transgenic plants (T1) showed dominant monogenic inheritance. Compared with CK, the progenies containing TuR2 gene had stronger resistance to TuMV. The TuR2 gene which was isolated from cabbage had the function of TuMV-resistance.
