Increased migration in host-pathogen metapopulations can cause host extinction

► Metapopulations are spatially sub-divided populations maintained through dispersal. ► Infectious diseases are carried by migrants into susceptible host populations. ► We find that Allee effects in the colonization rate significantly increase the risk of host extinction. ► We show when the presence of another host species make increased migration harmful.
