Functionality and metagraph disintegration in boolean networks

► We model gene regulatory networks with Boolean networks. ► We find those networks which attain expression space paths of different duration, T. ► Increasing T causes the number of these networks to decrease exponentially. ► The space of networks connected by neutral mutations disintegrates as T increases. ► Noise and mutational robustness are both found to depend on T.
