Two new leafless species of Ficinia (Cypereae, Cyperaceae) from the Greater Cape Floristic Region of South Africa

► Ficinia quartzicola is described from quartzite plains at Knersvlakte (Succulent Karoo biome). ► Ficinia jardinei is described from mountain seepages in arid Fynbos in the Swartruggens and Witteberg quartzite ranges. ► Both species have sticky leaf sheaths and reduced leaf blades. ► Full descriptions, illustrations and conservation status assessments are provided.
