Maximal multiplicities in cocharacter sequences

If A is a p.i. algebra, mn(A) is the maximum multiplicity of the Sn irreducible characters in the nth cocharacter of A. We prove that if 1∈A, then mn(A) is asymptotic to a polynomial and we compute the degree of this polynomial for the verbally prime p.i. algebras.
