Orthogonal sets of normal or conjugate-normal matrices

We point out several implications of a result of Djoković (1971) [8] concerning orthogonality of normal matrices that satisfy a certain condition on the eigenvalues of their sum. We obtain an analogous result in the setting of conjugate-normal matrices.
