On the structure of finite-dimensional paracontractions

We give a characterization of paracontractions with respect to a strictly convex norm on Cn. As an application we give a characterization of linear mappings on Mn which preserve paracontractions with respect to p-norms for 1⩽p⩽∞ in both directions.
