Boundary integral method for multi-layered electromagnetic scattering problems

In this paper we consider the scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic plane waves by an impenetrable obstacle which is embedded in a piecewise homogeneous medium. Applying potential theory, the problem can be reformulated as a boundary integral system. We obtain the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the system by using the generalized Gårding inequality and the Fredholm theory.
