We present a numerical simulation model for the study of three-dimensional heat diffusion through cylindrical inclusions. This model is based on the boundary elements method (BEM), formulated in the frequency domain, and it was verified against two-dimensional analytical solutions that are known for cylindrical geometries. The proposed model was used to simulate heat conduction through a concrete column with a cylindrical inclusion embedded within it, subjected to a three-dimensional external heat point source. The effect of the inclusion properties and inclination on the temperature distribution inside the column and on its outer surface was analysed. The different heat wave phases of the physical models were compared.
