High-frequency current sensor based on lead-free multiferroic BiFeO3-BaTiO3-based ceramics

This paper presents the study of a high-frequency current sensor fabricated using BiFeO3-BaTiO3-based multiferroic ceramics. The frequency response of the sensor is ranged from 1 kHz to 1 MHz. The sensitivity of the current sensor is 4.5 mV/A in a flat response zone from 1 kHz to 20 kHz with an error of 5%. Besides, the sensor exhibits superior temperature stability with a wide operational temperature range (room temperature to ∼353 K). The sensor is also assembled with a high magnetic permeability material that is capable of shielding the DC biased magnetic field up to 2026 Oe. The environmental friendly sensing material and stable output characteristics make the proposed current sensor preferable for the high-frequency current measurement. Besides the performance evaluation, the non-linear frequency response of the current senor is also investigated quantitatively from the aspects of impedance and conductivity.
