Sliding frictional contact analysis of an elastic solid with couple stresses

The effect of the size parameter q on the dimensionless in-plane stress R1/2σxx(x,0)/(µP)1/2 is plotted for the cylindrical punch with f = 0.2. The in-plane stress markedly departs from the classical solution as q increases from zero. It is observed that the couple stress effect with a small q is more pronounced than that with a great q.84
