Immigration and the environment: Underlying values and scope of analysis

The present paper describes the two most important streams of environmental restrictionists in the U.S., and argues that both traditions share an over-emphasis on the negative effects of immigration and a nationalist viewpoint. The paper pleads for a broader scale and scope of analysis. It concludes that immigration restriction should not be used as a generic instrument for environmental policy.
