Pricing emission permits in the absence of abatement

► I derive a pricing equation for CO2 allowances during the first phase of the EU ETS under the assumption of no abatement. ► I apply the pricing equation to phase-1 allowance prices, using data about daily electricity consumption and precipitation. ► The model fits the data well, and that the estimated parameters have the expected sign and magnitude.
