Navigating the terrains of transnational education: Children of Chinese 'study mothers' in Singapore

► There is limited literature focusing on children's experiences of migration from their point of view. ► The study seeks to disrupt dominant representations of children in migration as simply ''migrant's children”. ► It restores them to the status of ''migrant children”, social actors able to think about and navigate their migrant lives in fluid ways. ► 'Social navigation' provides the conceptual lens into the flexible ways that young people think about their futures. ► We conceive of social/cultural capital accumulation as a process with many degrees of provisionality rather than a fixed goal.
