Fuzzy Logic Algorithms Based Measurement and Control System for Intermixed Biogas and Photovoltaic Systems

Renewable energies in the form of biogas and photovoltaic systems are now widely adopted as baseline or complimentary energies for many rural households and farms. Often these energy systems stand alone or exist alone, and they are lack of monitoring and are independently operated. It is necessary to develop a measurement and control system for integrating these energies into an intermixed biogas and photovoltaic system, which can achieve safe and optimal usage of the energy. In this paper, a fuzzy logic algorithm based measurement and control system is developed for the intermixed biogas and photovoltaic system. The overall objective of this system is to evolve an approach to optimize the output capabilities of intermixed biogas and photovoltaic systems. To achieve this objective, the fuzzy logic algorithms are chosen and used for the measurement and control of the intermixed biogas and photovoltaic energies due to the complexity of the energy generation processes involved and the powerful intelligent ability solving nonlinear dynamics of fuzzy logic algorithms. Fuzzy logic algorithms are developed for each measurement and control unit. Based on MPLABX, which is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), some simulations have been done using C source codes, and the simulation results show the efficiency of using fuzzy logic algorithms to predict system failures, troubleshoot system faults, and control methane and photovoltaic electricity output levels.
