AChE catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATCh to generate TCh, which turns the yellow RB-AgNPs solution gray and the unquenched fluorescence of RB simultaneously. On the other hand, the carbamate pesticides can inhibit the activity of AChE, which the color of RB-AgNPs solution remains yellow and the fluorescence of RB remains quenched.
