Comparison of in vitro behavior of as-sprayed, alkaline-treated and collagen-treated bioceramic coatings obtained by high velocity oxy-fuel spray

- Two surface treatments were compared to improve bioactivity of sprayed coatings.
- As-sprayed and alkaline- and collagen-treated samples were analysed.
- Collagen treated samples showed the best biological behaviour.
- Alkaline treated samples showed an intermediate bioactivity.
- Collagen can be successfully bonded to hydroxyapatite-TiO2 coatings.
