Influence of an O2 background gas on the composition and kinetic energies of species in laser induced La0.4Ca0.6MnO3 plasmas

► Interactions between laser induced LCMO plasma and O2 background are investigated. ► The O2 background decreases the kinetic energy of positive atomic species. ► Large amount of positively charged oxide species were detected in O2 background. ► O2− species increases more significantly in O2 background than O− species.
