Synthesis of chemically bonded BiOCl@Bi2WO6 microspheres with exposed (0Â 2Â 0) Bi2WO6 facets and their enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation

- BiOCl@Bi2WO6 composites were prepared via a controlled anion exchange method.
- The shell of composites was composed of Bi2WO6 sheets with exposed (0 2 0) facets.
- The BiOCl@Bi2WO6 composites showed efficient photocatalytic activity.
- A possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism is proposed.
