Preparation and characterization of ammonium-functionalized silica nanoparticle as a new adsorbent to remove methyl orange from aqueous solution

▸ QPEI/SiO2 was utilized as an adsorbent. ▸ It was used for the removal of methyl orange (MO), an anionic dye from aqueous solution. ▸ The equilibrium time for methyl orange adsorption onto QPEI/SiO2 was as short as 10 min. ▸ The adsorption equilibrium was well described by the Langmuir isotherm model. ▸ The pH of the solution has a slight influence to adsorption capacity.
