Fabrication and characterization of hybrid micro/nano-structured hydrophilic titania coatings deposited by suspension flame spraying

► A novel flame spray approach using suspension/powder feedstock was proposed. ► Controllable hybrid micro/nano-structured titania coatings was deposited. ► The coatings are super hydrophilic. ► Relative contents of anatase and rutile in the titania coatings can be tailored. ► Effect of the hybrid structures on coating mechanical properties was elucidated.
