Synthesis, characterization and comparison of sediment electro-codeposited nickel-micro and nano SiC composites

► Ni-nano β-SiC composite was produced by sediment electro-co-deposition technique. ► Production of nanocomposite was more difficult than microcomposite. ► SiC incorporation by SECD method was much higher than that by CECD method. ► Roughness of the nanocomposite is much lower. ► The hardness of nanocomposite was higher for a given vol.% of SiC in deposit. ► Scratch and wear resistance of the nanocomposite were higher than that of microcomposite.
