In vitro degradation of AZ31 magnesium alloy coated with nano TiO2 film by sol-gel method

► Nano-TiO2 films were fabricated on AZ31 alloys as protective layers by sol-gel method. ► The inhibition effects were evaluated. ► The formation of defect structures on the films was analyzed and related with the degradation of coated alloys.
