Preparation and tribological properties of self-lubricating TiO2/graphite composite coating on Ti6Al4V alloy

► A TiO2/graphite composite coating is produced on Ti alloy by one-step PEO process. ► The TiO2/graphite composite coating exhibits excellent self-lubricating behavior. ► The self-lubricating composite coating improves the wear resistance by comparison to the conventional PEO coating.
