Fabrication of superhydrophobic vanadium pentoxide nanowires surface by chemical modification

► Vanadium pentoxide nanowires are synthesized by physical vapor deposition. ► The nanowires are single crystalline having orthorhombic V2O5 phase. ► Octadecyltrichlorosilane deposition changed the hydrophilic nanowire surface to hydrophobic surface. ► Superhydrophobicity are attributed to the high surface roughness and low surface energy.
