Photocatalytic activities of Bi2S3/BiOBr nanocomposites synthesized by a facile hydrothermal process

When the Bi2S3/BiOBr sample is irradiated by UV or visible light, BiOBr and Bi2S3 are both excited; then, a large number of electrons and holes are produced in the system. Electrons will transfer from Bi2S3 to conduction band of BiOBr, in the meantime, holes shift from BiOBr to valence band of Bi2S3. The photogenerated electron-hole pairs are thus effectively separated.
