Synthesis, characterization and microwave absorption properties of dendrite-like Fe3O4 embedded within amorphous sugar carbon matrix

- Fe3O4 dendrites embedded within sugar carbon were prepared by a simple method.
- The MDs/SC nanocomposites were characterized by various techniques thoroughly.
- A minimum reflection loss of −49.9 dB at 12.1 GHz is reached (only 1.9 mm).
- Absorption band (RL < −20 dB) can cover the X-band with thickness of 1.8-2.4 mm.
- This is ascribed to the proper match between dielectric SC and magnetic MDs.
