Hydrothermal synthesis of zirconium dioxide coating on the surface of wood with improved UV resistance

- A simple mild one-pot hydrothermal method was employed to deposit nano-ZrO2 on the wood surface.
- The strong hydrogen bonds between ZrO2 and hydroxide radicals of wood surface were plentifully formed.
- The ZrO2/wood nanocomposite shows improved thermal stability compared with that of original wood.
- The ZrO2/wood nanocomposite exhibits superior UV resistance performance.
