A novel fabrication of MEH-PPV/Al:ZnO nanorod arrays based ordered bulk heterojunction hybrid solar cells

► A novel configuration of ordered bulk heterojunction hybrid solar cells has been fabricated. ► Comparison between ZnO and Al:ZnO nanorod arrays properties were revealed and discussed. ► Highly c-axis oriented films enhance the electron transport in vertical direction for high performance devices. ► A good performance of device is achieved (Jsc = 5.32 mA/cm2, η = 0.287%) by the utilization of Al:ZnO nanorod arrays.
