Ectopic bone formation cannot occur by hydroxyapatite/β-tricalcium phosphate bioceramics in green fluorescent protein chimeric mice

► Firstly, chimeric mouse model could be established successfully by bone marrow transplantation after irradiation. ► Secondly, bone induction can occur in wild-type mice 90 days after implantation, but not occur in chimeric mice. ► Thirdly, destruction of immune function will block osteoinduction by calcium phosphate ceramics.
