Novel low temperature processing techniques for apatite ceramics and chitosan polymer composite bulk materials and its mechanical properties

► CHI and DCPD were mixed in nano-scale by co-precipitation method. ► Bulk CHI/HA materials derived from the CHI/DCPD hybrid material were obtained by hydrothermal hot-pressing. ► Fracture toughness of the obtained bulk materials was enhanced from 0.30 to 0.40 MPam1/2 by the CHI hybridization.
