Metal-nanoparticle-induced crystallization of amorphous Ge film using ferritin

► Ferritin can form Ni nanoparticle inside its vacant cavity by biomineralization. ► Ni nanoparticles enable to crystallize a-Ge film. ► Crystalline quality was equivalent with that of conventional method. ► Ni contamination was reduced by more than one order of magnitude.
