Surface-initiated addition polymerization of norbornene by a Pd(II) catalyst bearing acetylacetone ligand on the glass slide

► A Pd(II) acetylacetone based catalyst was used to surface-initiate the polymerization of norbornene onto the glass slide. ► Vinyl-type addition polynorbornene layer was obtained on the glass slide surface. ► The thickness of polynorbornene layers were increased with the increasing of polymerization time.
