Preparation and photocatalytic activity of Cu-doped ZnO thin films prepared by the sol-gel method

► Copper can enhance the photocatalytic activity of a ZnO thin film. ► There are two oxidation states of copper present Cu+ and Cu2+ on the surface of the ZnO thin film. ► Cu+ on the surface can react with H2O2 in order to generate the OH radical.
