Effect of particle concentration on the structure and tribological properties of submicron particle SiC reinforced Ni metal matrix composite (MMC) coatings produced by electrodeposition

► We have aimed to incorporate large amount of the SiC particles into Ni layer. ► A nickel sulfate bath was used as the plating electrolyte containing SiC particles. ► The effect of particle concentration on wear resistance of coatings has been studied. ► We have systematically increased the amount of the SiC particles codeposition. ► The wear mechanisms of submicron SiC reinforced MMC coatings were investigated.
