Electronic properties of diphenyl-s-tetrazine and some related oligomers. An spectroscopic and theoretical study

► We study properties of Ph2Tz and (PhTz)nPh as candidates for organic electronics. ► The synthesis of Ph2Tz was performed through a modified Pinner-type reaction. ► IR/Raman spectra allowed to conclude that Ph2Tz is nearly planar in liquid phase. ► Electronic structure was studied by UV-Vis/TD-DFT methods in different solvents. ► Bandgap, ELUMO, electron mobility predict some n-type character for limit polymer.
